Weather and daylight
Forecast and sunrise/sunset data: MET Norway, under CC BY 4.0. Rare Venues selects forecast hours, converts wind from metres per second to kilometres per hour and displays time in Europe/Paris. The panel shows the forecast issue time and selected reference town. Missing or old forecasts are not described as current conditions.
Tides and observed sea levels
Source: Shom / REFMAR, RONIM raw high-frequency observations, reused under Licence Ouverte 2.0. The chart displays change relative to its first observation, with a visible measurement time; it is not water depth, a tide prediction, or a navigation product. We select a named gauge for each town; at La Rochelle the gauge is at La Pallice. Observations older than two hours are labelled delayed. The chart omits unavailable data.
ReadyBoatGo’s archived NOAA tide dataset covers the United States. Its Guernsey marina calculations do not apply to France. This site uses the French gauge observations instead.
Harbours and nearby places
The six French shore-place collections come from ReadyBoatGo’s R2 public projections generated 10 September 2026. OpenStreetMap place data was collected 9 September; Overture place evidence includes a July 2026 snapshot. Names, categories, locations and source dates are retained. Lists show nearby records, not recommendations or confirmation that a business is currently open.
© OpenStreetMap contributors, under ODbL 1.0; Overture Maps and its contributors, under CDLA-Permissive-2.0 and the source terms retained with each record. Our field-limited extract is available with its source records and licences: download coastal place data.
Nearby bathing locations
European Environment Agency / Directorate-General for Environment, Bathing Water Directive status, 2025 edition, retrieved 29 August 2026. We select names, categories and coordinates in mainland France and Corsica, and calculate approximate distances. We do not publish the snapshot classifications as current swimming conditions.

Regional accommodation seasons
Eurostat tour_occ_nin2m, retrieved 29 August 2026. We select all twelve months of 2025, total domestic and international guests, hotels, holiday accommodation and campsites (I551-I553), in nights (NR). Percentage shares are calculated by Rare Venues. Flags are retained beside figures: p provisional, e estimated, b break in series. These are accommodation nights, not unique visitors, wedding bookings or available rooms.
Venue matches use the department from the exact commune-code match in our DINUM reference. Charts retain the source NUTS2 statistical geography, including areas such as Aquitaine and Midi-Pyrénées. We do not infer a regional match from an ambiguous marketing destination name.
